The Huntington Beach Pier
is a publicly owned pier
located in
Huntington Beach, California.
At 1,853 feet in length,
it is one of the
longest public piers
on the West Coast.
(The longest is
Oceanside Pier at 1942 feet).
It has been destroyed
three times; in 1912,
1939 and most recently
on January 17, 1988.
It is currently made of
reinforced concrete
and is not only
designed to withstand
large waves,
but also earthquakes.
